WHY WE NEED MOVEMENT

The human body runs on movement. It's required for good circulation, building/maintaining bone density, and optimizing many cellular processes. If your life is low in movement, or high in repetitive movements, then you might be feeling the effects of localized sedentarism. Exercise can help to fill in some of the gaps but it's only a band-aid for changing the way you move and the way your life moves you.

Learn how to use corrective exercise to find what parts of you don't move well and how to restore movement and function. Use natural movement so that in time the exercises are needed less and your life facilitates the movement you need for health and longevity.

MOVEMENT LIFESTYLE

In my late teens and early 20's I required regular chiropractic adjustments for my neck and back. It never fixed the problem but it did help. Going to massage school and getting lots of free massage helped, but only for a little while. It wasn't until I found Nutritious Movement™ by Katy Bowman that I learned how my way of moving was creating my back and neck issues. It was where I learned how MOVEMENT sets your body up for health and better function.

During my time at university studying exercise science, I was saddened to see so many of my super-fit peers dealing with "bad" knees, backs, and hips. Fitness is not health and performance does not equal biological function, but exercise science is slow to recognize this.  Exercise is good, but the body needs movement to thrive.

Now in my 30's, I hear my peers chalk up their achy knees and backs to "just getting old." Your age has less to do with how your body functions than how you've been using your body does. Now, I love movement and I strive to build more of it into my everyday life.  Not only for my health, but to experience nature, take care of myself and others, and to decrease my reliance on unsustainable systems.
